Community Resources: Food Banks

This guide provides a list of local and national community resources.

According to North Carolina Justice Center in North Carolina people in nearly "590,000 households do not have enough food to eat each day. North Carolina has the 10th highest rate of food insecurity in the nation".  Food insecurity impacts students learning and their ability to concentrate in the classroom. Google is a great search engine to find food pantries close to your location and to verify the business hours of the food drive. 

Dial 211 to find a local food bank. The hotline is available 24/7 to connect people to community resources. 

Find Help is an online directory to help people find housing, medical resources, scholarship, and emergency financial assistance. 

Second Harvest Foodbank is a part of Feeding America.  Type in your zip code to find the nearest food bank. Click here to get started. Many local nonprofits and churches have a partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank.
