Tarana J. Burke is a community activist and founder of the "Me Too" movement. Tarana was featured as one of "the silence breakers" and awarded Time Magazine Person of the Year in 2017. The "Me Too" movement is an international movement that challenges stereotypes, power, and dismantles ideologies about sexual assault. Born on September 12, 1973, in the Bronx, New York. Tarana developed a passion for community activist at a young age. "Burke led campaigns and launched initiatives around issues like housing inequality, racial discrimination, and economic injustice."Burke is a sexual assault survivor. "She's most well-known as the founder of the "Me Too" movement in 2006 which has blossomed into a worldwide campaign to raise awareness about sexual harassment, abuse, and assault in society."
